Not all research involves video. This guide walks you through importing text-based open-end responses into Voxpopme so you can take advantage of the platform’s automated analysis tools on text-only data.
Step 1: Prepare Your Spreadsheet
Open the spreadsheet containing your text responses. Ensure it includes respondent IDs, response text, and any relevant metadata columns you want to carry into the platform.
Step 2: Clean Your Data
Use find-and-replace to remove special characters or symbols that could cause import errors. Focus on non-alphanumeric characters outside standard text ranges.
Step 3: Format Your Spreadsheet
- Structure the data with respondent IDs, response texts, and metadata in clearly labelled columns.
- Add a column labelled TextOnly and set every cell in that column to 1. This tells the platform this is a text-only project with no audio or video files.
- Save and download the completed spreadsheet.
Step 4: Import Your Data into Voxpopme
- Log in and select Create Project.
- Choose the Import Video template as the starting point.
- Select Bulk Importer and name your project.
- If your spreadsheet contains more than 1,000 rows, open the three-dot menu and update the project settings to accommodate larger data sets.
- Upload your file and map each column to the correct field. Make sure at least one field is designated as transcript data.
Step 5: Review and Confirm
Submit to finalize processing. The platform will process your text data and you will be notified when analysis is ready.
